LAS VEGAS — In an impressive display, the UNLV Rebels triumphed over the Omaha Mavericks with a final score of 80-69 on Thursday night. Jalen Hill and Jeremiah Cherry stood out for the Rebels, each contributing 17 points to the team’s success.
Hill not only showcased his scoring ability but also excelled on the boards, grabbing eight rebounds, and displaying exceptional defensive skills by adding five steals to his stat line. Cherry had an efficient night, going 7 for 8 from the field and making all three of his free-throw attempts. Additionally, Dedan Thomas Jr. played a critical role, tallying 15 points while shooting 4 of 9 from the floor and achieving a perfect 6 for 6 at the free-throw line.
On the other side, Ja’Sean Glover led the Mavericks with 17 points, with Marquel Sutton close behind, contributing 16 points to the effort. Kamryn Thomas also had a notable performance, finishing the game with 11 points along with six rebounds.
Going into halftime, UNLV maintained a slight lead over Omaha, holding a 35-29 advantage with Cherry leading the scoring with 11 points before the break. In the second half, the Rebels continued to push ahead, outscoring the Mavericks by five points, with Dedan Thomas Jr. emerging as the top scorer for the half with 12 points.
