Cincinnati Reds’ local games to be broadcasted next season by MLB

CINCINNATI — Major League Baseball (MLB) will manage and provide local broadcasts for the Cincinnati Reds in the upcoming season.
This decision comes after a ruling from a judge in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Houston, which allowed the Reds and Diamond Sports Group to dissolve their partnership.

As part of this arrangement, the Reds had previously held a 20% ownership in what has now become FanDuel Sports Network Ohio.
In a significant move, Diamond repurchased the club’s share for a mere $1.

With the inclusion of the Reds, MLB will be responsible for the production and distribution of broadcasts for at least seven teams as they head into the 2025 season.
Thus far, MLB has already taken over the broadcasting responsibilities for the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks during the 2023 season, along with the Colorado Rockies this year.
Additionally, the league will incorporate the Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers, and Minnesota Twins into its broadcast strategy starting next season.

Currently, the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers are still evaluating their future broadcasting arrangements.
By assuming control of the broadcasts, MLB aims to expand the Reds’ market penetration significantly, elevating the team’s reach from approximately 1.1 million households to an impressive 13.5 million homes across seven states.
This will be facilitated through an integration of local cable services, satellite offerings, and direct-to-consumer streaming platforms.
