NEW YORK — A significant fire broke out on the rooftop of a luxury high-rise apartment building, generating thick smoke that could be seen across the New York City skyline on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the Hudson Yards area, located on the west side of Manhattan. Fire officials received the first reports of the fire around 11:30 a.m., and within approximately 40 minutes, they managed to bring it under control.
Approximately 80 firefighters were dispatched to tackle the flames, and fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries related to the incident, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the fire department.
The blaze occurred atop a high-end residence known as The Set, where the monthly rental price for an unfurnished one-bedroom apartment starts at an eye-watering $7,400, based on the information available on the building’s website.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
