BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Sabres’ head coach Lindy Ruff has announced that the team’s leading scorer, Tage Thompson, along with starting goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, will not participate in the upcoming home game against the St. Louis Blues this Thursday evening.
Both players are currently classified as day to day, with hopes of rejoining the team for the match against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
Thompson, who has netted 11 goals this season—only one shy of the NHL lead—sustained a lower-body injury during a 7-5 defeat against Montreal on Monday. Meanwhile, Luukkonen is managing what Ruff described as a minor injury.
In light of these absences, rookie goaltender Devon Levi is anticipated to take the ice against the Blues, while James Reimer, recently acquired off waivers from Anaheim, will serve as the backup.
The Sabres are looking to maintain their momentum despite the setbacks and are optimistic about the return of their key players for future matches.
