UEFA probes English official Coote following video of suspected drug use during Euro 2024

UEFA has initiated a new investigation into English referee David Coote after a video surfaced that reportedly captures him using cocaine during the European Championship.
In an official statement, UEFA confirmed that an ethics and disciplinary inspector has been designated to examine possible infringements of their disciplinary regulations by Coote.

Coote was serving as a video review specialist at the Euro 2024 tournament, where match officials were accommodated in a hotel located near Frankfurt, Germany.
The incident came to light when a British tabloid published a video on Wednesday that seemed to show Coote inhaling the substance using a dollar bill.

This investigation follows his suspension earlier in the week by the English referees’ association after another video emerged that displayed Coote making derogatory remarks about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp while socializing with friends.
Following the release of the first video, the association and the English Football Association (FA) launched their own inquiries into his conduct.

In response to the developments, UEFA has also decided to withdraw Coote from officiating any national team matches for the time being.
The series of incidents has raised significant concerns regarding his conduct and the standards expected of match officials in major tournaments.
