In a remarkable performance on Wednesday night, Parker Navarro spearheaded Ohio’s victory over Eastern Michigan with a career-best showing, throwing for 277 yards and rushing for 106 yards along with four touchdowns. This triumph secured a 35-10 victory for the Bobcats, enhancing their standing to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the Mid-American Conference. With this win, Ohio is keeping its hopes alive for a spot in the upcoming conference championship game.
Supporting Navarro’s impressive outing, Anthony Tyus III added a rushing touchdown to the tally, while Coleman Owen showcased his receiving skills with eight catches for 139 yards. Additionally, the Bobcats’ defense played a crucial role by generating a season-high four turnovers against an Eastern Michigan squad that had already recorded seven turnovers prior to this matchup. Quarterback Cole Snyder, who entered the game with three interceptions, struggled significantly, throwing a pick on three consecutive drives and facing a strip sack as well.
The turnovers proved detrimental, leading to 21 points for Ohio. One of the most significant moments came when Tank Person intercepted a pass at the Eastern Michigan 25-yard line, marking his second interception of the game. Just one play later, Navarro capitalized on the opportunity by scoring on a run around the left side, extending the lead to 21-7.
Although Eastern Michigan managed to respond with a lengthy 16-play drive that covered 64 yards and consumed nearly eight minutes, they could only convert this effort into a field goal. The Bobcats then efficiently navigated 85 yards to score again, capitalizing on a fumble recovery by Kaci Seegars, following a forceful play from Ben McNaboe, who also claimed an interception earlier in the game. Both touchdowns from this drive came from short runs by Navarro.
Snyder ended the night with a line of 18 completions on 30 attempts, amassing 155 yards and tossing a touchdown pass to Delbert Mimms III in a challenging game for the Eagles.
