The Toledo defense was also a key factor, securing five turnovers, including a remarkable 45-yard interception return for a touchdown by Nasir Bowers, leading to a final score of 37-10 Tuesday night.

Gleason’s passing game was effective, completing 13 of 23 attempts for 136 yards. Among his notable plays was a 27-yard touchdown pass to Zy’marion Lang, which increased the Rockets’ lead to 34-3 early in the third quarter. He initially gave Toledo the lead with a 9-yard touchdown run at the end of the first quarter and followed it up with a 30-yard rushing touchdown late in the second quarter, extending the lead to 17-3.

Bowers’s pivotal interception occurred near midfield, where he intercepted a pass from Central Michigan’s Jadyn Glasser and sprinted down the right sideline to score just 22 seconds before halftime. It didn’t end there; shortly after, Jackson Barrow recovered a fumble prompted by a strip-sack from D’Andre Ragin on Glasser, further solidifying Toledo’s momentum.

As the first half concluded, Dylan Cunanan added a 32-yard field goal, making the score 27-3 by halftime. He continued to demonstrate his kicking prowess with a 30-yard field goal early in the second half and a 40-yarder with around ten minutes remaining in the game.
