RIVERDALE, N.Y. — In an exciting match on Tuesday night, Shaquil Bender led the way with an impressive performance, scoring 28 points as the Manhattan Jaspers emerged victorious against the Mercy Mavericks with a final score of 88-71.
Bender’s contribution included three steals, helping propel the Jaspers to their first win of the season, now holding a record of 1-1. His teammates supported him well, with Will Sydnor delivering a solid all-around game—adding 17 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and blocking three shots. Devin Dinkins was also notable, showcasing his shooting skills by connecting on four of his six attempts, including three out of five from beyond the arc, while also making all four of his free-throw attempts to conclude the night with 15 points.
On the other side, the Mavericks struggled to keep pace despite a robust performance from Ethan Robertson, who scored 21 points. Taj Chiles contributed significantly as well, notching 15 points along with eight assists and two steals, while Shedrach Makanjuola rounded out the scoring for Mercy with 12 points, complemented by four steals and two blocks.
