In Newark, New Jersey, Loyola University Maryland secured a 68-50 victory over NJIT on Tuesday night, bolstered by a strong performance from Jordan Stiemke, who contributed 15 points off the bench.
Stiemke showcased his shooting prowess, going 6 for 10 from the floor, including a solid 3 for 5 from beyond the arc. His efforts were complemented by Milos Ilic, who scored 13 points while shooting 6 of 12 and also grabbed five rebounds for the Greyhounds, who improved their record to 2-1.
On the other side of the court, Tariq Francis was the standout player for the Highlanders, leading his team with 17 points as they struggled to find their rhythm, dropping to 0-3 this season.
The turning point for Loyola came with just under five minutes left in the first half when they seized the lead and maintained it for the rest of the game. The score at halftime stood at 29-26, thanks in part to Stiemke’s seven points. In the second half, the Greyhounds expanded their advantage significantly, reaching a peak lead of 64-40, driven by an impressive 18-3 scoring run. During this surge, Ilic particularly shone, contributing 11 points in the half as Loyola displayed their dominance on the court.
