Rasheer Fleming played a pivotal role in Saint Joseph’s victory over Villanova, contributing 19 points in an 83-76 win on a Tuesday evening.
Fleming also recorded five rebounds, showcasing his versatility on the court. Additionally, Xzayvier Brown made a significant impact by tallying 18 points while also collecting six rebounds and achieving a personal best of 13 assists. Derek Simpson was effective as well, finishing with 16 points, shooting 5 for 10 from the field, including two 3-pointers, and converting all four of his free throw attempts, while also grabbing six rebounds.
On the other hand, the Wildcats’ scoring was led by Eric Dixon, who netted 24 points and secured nine rebounds. Jhamir Brickus contributed 22 points for Villanova, with Wooga Poplar adding 13 points, eight rebounds, and three steals to the team’s efforts.
Simpson was particularly strong in the first half, scoring 12 points, which left Saint Joseph’s slightly behind at halftime, trailing by just one point at 37-36. However, the Hawks took control in the second half with an impressive 15-0 scoring run, turning a four-point deficit into a lead of 53-42 with just over 13 minutes remaining. Fleming was instrumental during this period, scoring 14 of his points in the second half and helping to secure the win for Saint Joseph’s.
