LEXINGTON, Ky. — Dazia Lawrence showcased her skills by sinking all of her attempts in the opening quarter, contributing 15 points to lead No. 20 Kentucky to a decisive 76-42 victory against Wofford on Tuesday evening.
Clara Strack added to the Wildcats’ strong performance with 16 points, a personal-best 15 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks. Teonni Key also made her mark, finishing with 11 points and another career-high of 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, Georgia Amoore rounded out the scoring effort with 11 points and seven assists. Kentucky’s defense was formidable, recording 10 blocks and bringing their national leading total to 38.
Maddie Heiss was the standout for the Terriers, leading her team with 11 points. Teammates Evangelia Paulk and Indiya Clarke each contributed 10 points to the effort.
Lawrence, a senior transfer from Charlotte, initiated Kentucky’s scoring with two early baskets, followed by two free throws and three successful three-pointers, helping the Wildcats take a commanding 22-5 lead after the first quarter.
Despite a dip in shooting performance during the second quarter, where Lawrence missed her only attempt, Kentucky expanded their advantage to 34-12 by halftime. The Terriers struggled significantly, hitting only 11% of their shots in the first half, managing just four out of 36 attempts.
Kentucky started the third quarter strong, scoring the first eight points to extend their lead to 42-12. By the 3:37 mark of the game, Kentucky had established a massive 39-point lead.
Lawrence finished the game shooting 6 of 9 from the field, including four of Kentucky’s total of 10 three-pointers. In contrast, Wofford managed to hit only five out of 30 attempts from beyond the arc and ended the game with a shooting percentage of 20% (14 of 69).
Next, the Wildcats will face a tough challenge as they host No. 18 Louisville this Saturday.
