SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The San Francisco 49ers have secured cornerback Deommodore Lenoir with a lucrative five-year contract extension valued at $92 million, ensuring he will remain with the team rather than enter free agency in the upcoming offseason.

According to a source familiar with the negotiations, the new agreement was finalized on Tuesday. The individual requested to remain unnamed as the official announcement has yet to be made. The NFL Network was the first to break the news regarding the deal.

This season, Lenoir has emerged as one of the standout cornerbacks in the National Football League, showcasing his versatility by effectively playing both inside and outside positions for the 49ers. He has covered a range of plays, allowing just 35 receptions on 56 targets, culminating in a passer rating of 65 against him, as per statistics from Pro Football Focus.

Throughout the season, Lenoir has successfully kept opposing receivers from scoring, recording no touchdown passes allowed. His impressive stats include two interceptions, six defended passes, and one fumble forced. Additionally, he made an impactful play by returning a blocked field goal for a touchdown.

Retaining Lenoir was a significant aim for the 49ers, given that their top two cornerbacks were approaching free agency, with Charvarius Ward also in the final year of his contract. The team clearly recognized Lenoir’s increasing value.

Drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft out of Oregon, Lenoir earned a starting position by his second year with the franchise. Over his career, he has compiled six interceptions and defended 23 passes across 56 games played, firmly establishing himself as a key player in the team’s defense.
