DUBLIN — Fiji winger Semi Radradra has been banned from participating in the upcoming European rugby matches against Spain and Ireland, following the red card he received during the game against Wales. This decision was made by an independent disciplinary panel after a review through a video hearing.
Radradra was cited for performing a shoulder-led tackle that made contact with the head of Wales fullback Cameron Wynne in a match held in Cardiff on Sunday. Initially shown a yellow card in the first half, his penalty was escalated to a red card after a review by the match officials.
Despite Radradra’s ejection from the match, Fiji celebrated a historic victory, achieving their first-ever win over Wales on Welsh soil, with a score of 24-19.
The disciplinary panel initially proposed a six-match suspension; however, this was reduced to three games due to Radradra’s previously clean disciplinary record and his expression of regret over the incident.
As a result of this ruling, Radradra will be ineligible to play in the upcoming game against Spain in Valladolid this weekend, as well as the match against Ireland in Dublin next week. Nevertheless, he has the option to return for his third match with his club Lyon, provided he attends World Rugby’s tackle school.
