VIRGINIA Water, England — The European Tour is set to feature returns to both Turkey and Austria in its 2025 calendar while also reinstating the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa. This exciting lineup is part of a comprehensive 42-event schedule for the upcoming season, which kicks off next week.
The newly released schedule highlights tournaments spanning at least 26 countries, boasting a record-breaking total prize pool of $153 million that excludes major tournaments. After a hiatus since 2019, the Turkish Open will take place at the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort starting May 8. Similarly, Austria will welcome back its Austrian Alpine Open, which is its 23rd edition, set to occur from May 29 after having no events since 2021.
The Nedbank Golf Challenge, once featured as the penultimate event crucial for securing points in the Race to Dubai, will now take place earlier in the season before the year concludes. The season is set to commence with the Australian PGA Championship from November 21-24, which will kick off what is termed the “Opening Swing” — an initial set of events taking place across Australia, South Africa, and Mauritius.
Following this, the schedule includes an “International Swing” consisting of five tournaments in the Middle East, and an “Asian Swing” with four tournaments in Asia. The tour will subsequently transition into Europe, running events from May through August.
The playoffs for the tour will still feature the Abu Dhabi Championship and the World Tour Championship held in Dubai. Meanwhile, the overall future and stability of the European Tour seem to be in flux as discussions between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour continue to evolve, aiming to unify the sport in the aftermath of its division.
