In a thrilling contest at the Rainbow Classic on Monday night, Gytis Nemeiksa played a vital role for Hawaii, coming off the bench to score 18 points, contributing significantly to the team’s 76-66 win over Pacific.
Nemeiksa’s performance was bolstered by his ten rebounds, making him a crucial asset for the Rainbow Warriors, who improved their record to 3-0. Marcus Greene also shone with an equal 18 points, making 6 of his 12 attempts from the field. Although he struggled from beyond the arc, failing to connect on five attempts, he was perfect at the free-throw line, converting all six of his attempts. Tanner Christensen contributed 14 points, shooting 4 for 8 and also performing well at the charity stripe with 6 out of 9 successful free throws.
Pacific (3-1) had standout performances from Elijah Fisher, who scored 21 points and gathered seven rebounds, showcasing his offensive skills. Elias Ralph added 17 points and collected eight rebounds, while Lamar Washington contributed with eleven points and four assists, aiding in the team’s efforts.
In the first half, Nemeiksa made a strong impact by scoring 11 points, but Hawaii went into halftime trailing slightly at 37-35. The second half saw Greene stepping up, scoring 16 points and helping the team pull away for a solid ten-point victory.
Hawaii will look to continue their positive momentum in their next game, set for Sunday against Weber State at their home court. Meanwhile, Pacific will be back in action on Thursday when they host Northern Arizona.
