N.J. Benson came off the bench to contribute 15 points, guiding DePaul to a decisive 95-64 victory over Mercer on Monday night.
Benson demonstrated efficiency in his shooting, connecting on 5 of 9 attempts from the field and hitting 5 of 6 free throws, helping the Blue Demons improve their record to 3-0.
Also stepping up for DePaul, David Skogman added 13 points with a shooting performance of 5 of 9, including 2 of 5 from three-point range, along with five rebounds.
CJ Gunn matched Skogman’s output with 13 points on 6 of 10 shooting, sinking 1 of 3 from beyond the arc.
On the opposing side, Mercer was led in scoring by Ahmad Robinson, who netted 12 points and recorded two steals.
Alex Holt also contributed with 12 points alongside two steals, while Angel Montas rounded out the scoring for Mercer with 10 points and eight rebounds.
DePaul seized the lead just 30 seconds into the game and maintained control throughout.
Troy D’Amico shone for DePaul in the first half, leading the team in scoring with nine points, contributing to a substantial 51-22 lead at halftime.
In the second half, DePaul continued to build on their advantage, reaching a commanding 65-30 lead after an impressive 11-0 scoring streak.
Gunn emerged as the high scorer in the second half with eight points as DePaul wrapped up their victory comfortably.
