ST. LOUIS — Gibson Jimerson delivered an impressive performance, scoring 28 points in Saint Louis’s commanding 95-44 win over Avila on Sunday evening.
Jimerson showcased his shooting skills, hitting 9 of 17 attempts from the field, sinking 6 out of 11 three-point shots, and completing all four free throw attempts. Alongside him, Kellen Thames contributed significantly with 16 points, achieving 7 of 11 shooting, while also grabbing eight rebounds and making four steals. Larry Hughes Jr. added 15 points to the scoreboard for the Billikens as well.
On the opposing side, Xavier Kahube led the Eagles, scoring 16 points and recording two blocks to help his team.
The Billikens took control of the game early, seizing the lead just under 18 minutes into the first half and maintaining their dominance throughout. At halftime, the score stood at 44-26, with Jimerson impressively scoring 21 points by that point. In the second half, Saint Louis surged ahead with a strong 14-2 run, widening their lead from 16 to 28 points. The final half showcased an outstanding performance by the Billikens, who outscored Avila by 33 points, with Hughes leading the charge by scoring a team-high 12 points in the second half.
