ATHENS, Ga. — In an impressive display during the Peach Tree Classic held on Sunday, Dakota Leffew, a graduate transfer from Mount St. Mary’s, made a significant impact for the Georgia Bulldogs. Coming off the bench, Leffew showcased his shooting prowess by sinking 5 of 10 three-pointers and contributing 23 points to lead Georgia to a dominating 92-64 victory against Texas Southern.

Leffew was pivotal for the Bulldogs, particularly after being the sole Georgia player to successfully hit a three-pointer in their season opener against Tennessee Tech. His performance against Texas Southern helped the team achieve a commendable shooting percentage from beyond the arc, finishing with 12 successful shots out of 34 attempts.

Notably, Silas Demary Jr. also shone brightly, scoring 17 points while securing six rebounds and distributing six assists for Georgia, which improved their record to 2-0. Freshman Asa Newell had an outstanding debut with 20 points, and he continued to impress with a subsequent 14-point effort. Tyrin Lawrence and Blue Cain made valuable contributions as well, with Lawrence adding 13 points, while Cain recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

On the opposing side, Kenny Hunter led Texas Southern with 16 points, and Kavion McCain chipped in with 13 points. However, the Tigers struggled offensively, managing to shoot only 36.9% from the field with a dismal 1 of 19 from three-point range, translating to a mere 5.3% shooting accuracy from beyond the arc.
