CHICAGO – In a commanding performance on Sunday, Loyola Chicago secured a resounding 105-53 win against Eureka, with Sheldon Edwards emerging as a key contributor off the bench, scoring 17 points.
Edwards had an impressive shooting night, converting 6 of his 11 attempts, including 3 out of 8 from three-point territory. The Ramblers, who boosted their record to 3-0, were also supported by Jayden Dawson, who added 16 points while making 6 of 7 shots from the floor, including all three of his three-point attempts. Francis Nwaokorie chipped in 11 points, making all four of his field goal attempts and adding three steals, despite struggling at the free-throw line, going 1 for 4.
On the other side, the Red Devils found their scoring leader in Peewee Brown, who registered 11 points along with two steals. Emaryon Byrd contributed 10 points to the team’s efforts, while Jacob Gonzalez rounded out the scoring with seven points.
Loyola Chicago wrestled control of the game with 19:40 remaining in the first half and maintained the lead throughout. At halftime, the score stood at 48-29, with Dawson recording 10 points. The Ramblers built an even larger gap in the second half, executing a decisive 17-2 run that extended their lead from 37 points to a staggering 52 points. In the final period, they outscored Eureka by 33 points, with Edwards leading the team with 10 points in the second half.
