FORT WORTH, Texas — In a commanding performance on Saturday night, TCU triumphed over Oklahoma State with a score of 38-13, propelled by quarterback Josh Hoover, who threw for 287 yards and a touchdown.

JP Richardson emerged as a key player for the Horned Frogs, making seven receptions for 100 yards, while Cam Cook contributed significantly to the ground game with two rushing touchdowns. TCU’s offense was on fire, scoring in six out of their first seven possessions, which ultimately resulted in Oklahoma State suffering their seventh straight defeat. Notably, TCU did not have to punt until midway through the fourth quarter, with their only scoring failure occurring on their second possession when a field goal attempt missed the mark.

This victory secures TCU’s place in bowl eligibility with a record of 6-4 and 4-3 in the Big 12, marking a comeback after they missed out the previous year. Two years back, the Horned Frogs reached the national championship game, showcasing their capability in the league.

On the other hand, Oklahoma State faced a significant setback, confirming their first losing season since Mike Gundy’s inaugural year as head coach in 2005. This loss also broke their impressive streak of 18 consecutive bowl appearances.

For the Cowboys, Brennan Presley stood out with eight receptions totaling 63 yards, elevating his season total to 70 catches and marking a new school record of 294 career receptions, surpassing Rashaun Woods’ record from 2003. Ollie Gordon II added to the offense with 121 rushing yards and a touchdown, while De’Zhaun Stribling recorded seven receptions for 101 yards and a score.

TCU effectively capitalized on two turnovers by Oklahoma State in the first half, including a fumble by Gordon and an interception thrown by Alan Bowman, both occurring within TCU’s 30-yard line. By halftime, TCU had built a substantial 24-0 lead while outpacing the Cowboys with a yardage advantage of 280 to 90.

In the second half, Oklahoma State’s offense began to show signs of life, scoring touchdowns on their initial two drives with a 2-yard run from Gordon and an 8-yard touchdown pass to Stribling from Bowman. However, the momentum was fleeting, and the offense soon returned to inconsistencies.

Conversely, TCU’s offense maintained its pressure. After Oklahoma State narrowed the score to 31-13, TCU responded quickly with Jordyn Bailey sprinting 59 yards for a touchdown on just two plays later.

Looking ahead, TCU is set to host Arizona next Saturday, while Oklahoma State will face Texas Tech on November 23.
