GREENVIEW, S.C. — Ryan Ingram contributed significantly to Wofford’s offense, rushing for 120 yards and scoring a pivotal 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter, ultimately helping the Terriers secure a 19-13 victory over Furman on Saturday.

Wofford showcased their offensive prowess throughout the game, achieving a season-high total of 385 yards. The defense was equally impressive, registering 13 tackles for loss, which played a key role in limiting Furman to a mere 55 yards on the ground.

Wofford secured their initial lead of the contest when Devery Cagle successfully kicked a 29-yard field goal with just over a minute remaining in the first half, bringing the score to 10-7. However, Furman responded promptly with a 60-yard offensive drive that concluded with a 39-yard field goal, allowing the teams to go into halftime tied.

Cagle went on to add another field goal for Wofford in the third quarter, this time successfully converting from 38 yards out. Ian Williams later extended the lead even further by nailing a 41-yard field goal with 13:36 left in the game, marking the final score of the day. After this, Wofford struggled offensively, punting the ball on their next three possessions. Furman, on the other hand, was unable to gain any momentum, resulting in two punts and ultimately a turnover on downs with just 18 seconds remaining at their own 27-yard line.

Kyle Watkins was a standout receiver for Wofford, registering 106 yards through the air. Carson Jones, quarterback for the Paladins, ended the game with 229 passing yards but faced a tough defense throughout the match.

This matchup marked the 98th encounter between Wofford and Furman, a rivalry that dates back to 1889, notable for being the first college football game played in South Carolina. With this victory, Wofford has now won two consecutive games against Furman, marking their first back-to-back wins in the rivalry since 2017.
