HAMMOND, La. — In a decisive Southland Conference matchup, Southeastern Louisiana dominated Northwestern State, achieving a commanding 41-0 victory. Eli Sawyer started strong, delivering two touchdown passes in the first quarter, while Rodeo Graham Jr. added two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter to seal the win for the Lions.

With this triumph, Southeastern Louisiana improved its record to 6-5 overall and 5-1 within the Southland Conference, positioning themselves just a half-game behind Incarnate Word. Notably, their only defeat in the past six games was a close 34-31 loss to the Cardinals.

The Lions’ defense was impenetrable throughout the game, restricting Northwestern State to a mere five first downs and a total offense of only 140 yards.

Quarterback Eli Sawyer had a solid day, completing 18 of 26 passes for 206 yards, although he did throw one interception. Running back Antonio Martin Jr. made a significant impact as well, rushing 14 times for 110 yards and scoring once.

For Northwestern State, Quaterius Hawkins went 12-for-18 through the air for 118 yards but struggled to find the end zone amidst the Lions’ formidable defense. The Demons’ record now stands at 0-10 for the season, with a 0-5 mark in conference play.

Southeastern Louisiana’s performance showcased their potential as they head deeper into their season, highlighting both effective offense and a stout defense against their winless opponent.
