DURHAM, N.H. — In an exciting game on Saturday, Seth Morgan connected on two touchdown passes while Nick Mazzie contributed significantly with four field goals, leading New Hampshire to a decisive 33-20 victory over Monmouth.
The match featured a fierce competition as both teams fought for supremacy, resulting in a 14-14 tie in the second quarter. However, Mazzie’s impressive kicks from 42 and 35 yards propelled UNH ahead, giving them a 20-14 lead as they went into halftime.
The Wildcats continued to build their advantage in the third quarter, with Mazzie hitting his third field goal, extending the score to 23-14. Denzell Gibson then showcased his skills with an 11-yard touchdown run, pushing the score to 30-14 by the end of the third quarter.
Monmouth fought back as Derek Robertson threw his second touchdown pass, which narrowed the gap to 30-20. Despite their efforts, Mazzie capped off the scoring for the game with his fourth successful field goal.
Morgan had a productive day passing, completing 25 of 40 attempts for a total of 205 yards. Logan Tomlinson was a standout receiver, making 10 catches for 115 yards and contributing a touchdown. Additionally, Denzell Gibson added to the Wildcats’ offense with 88 rushing yards and a touchdown, bolstering their record to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association.
On the other side, Robertson of Monmouth had a challenging outing but managed to complete 17 of his 34 passes for 198 yards. His touchdown passes were caught by TJ Speight and Tra Neal, marking a commendable performance despite the eventual loss, leaving the Hawks at 4-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
