FEMA Employee Dismissed for Instructing Colleagues Not to Assist Hurricane Victims Who Backed Trump

A FEMA employee has been terminated after reportedly instructing colleagues assisting hurricane victims to avoid residences with signs supporting President-elect Donald Trump, according to a statement released on Saturday by the agency’s head.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell condemned the actions, calling them a blatant violation of the agency’s fundamental values, which dictate impartial aid regardless of political affiliations. “This was completely unacceptable,” she stated.

The employee’s identity has not been disclosed, nor has the specific location of the incident been revealed. However, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis labeled the incident as “targeted discrimination” against Trump supporters in Florida, suggesting it occurred within the state.

DeSantis announced that he has instructed the Florida Division of Emergency Management to launch an investigation into the situation. In his social media comments, he accused the federal bureaucracy of using government resources for partisan purposes and expressed his belief that the Biden-Harris administration is nearing its end.

He added, “New leadership is on the way in D.C., and I’m optimistic that these partisan bureaucrats will be removed.”

Neither FEMA nor DeSantis provided specific details regarding when the incident took place or which community it affected. FEMA agents have been active in the region, assisting victims of Hurricane Milton, which caused extensive damage in various Florida localities last month.

Criswell emphasized her commitment to ensuring accountability among employees in her agency. “I will do everything within my power to guarantee that something like this does not happen again,” she stated.
