NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Pelicans have announced that Zion Williamson is suffering from a left hamstring strain, which will keep him out of action for an indefinite period. This update was provided on Saturday, just a day after Williamson did not participate in the team’s disappointing 115-88 defeat to the Orlando Magic.
This injury marks the fourth game Williamson has had to miss out of the ten games played so far this season. When he has been on the court, his contributions have been significant, averaging 22.7 points, eight rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
Since joining the NBA as the first overall pick in the 2019 draft from Duke University, Williamson, who stands at 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 284 pounds, has faced considerable injury challenges, having missed 210 of 400 possible regular-season games.
The Pelicans are currently struggling, having lost four consecutive games and seven out of their last eight matchups. They are scheduled to compete against the Brooklyn Nets at home on Monday night.
