Real Madrid’s Eder Militão stretchered off due to leg injury

MADRID — During Saturday’s home match against Osasuna, Real Madrid defender Éder Militão was stretchered off the field due to what seemed to be a severe leg injury sustained in the first half of the game.

Militão fell to the ground inside the opponent’s penalty area, visibly in distress and clutching the back of his right knee. The 26-year-old Brazilian center-back covered his face with his jersey as medical staff assisted him off the pitch.

This injury is particularly concerning as Militão had a tough season last year after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during the opening match. He made his return in March, contributing significantly to Real Madrid’s triumphs in both the Champions League and La Liga.

In addition to Militão, fellow Madrid and Brazil forward Rodrygo also sustained an injury prior to Militão’s exit. Rodrygo was seen on the sidelines applying ice to his left leg as he waited for further evaluation.
