LOS ANGELES — Andre Henry contributed significantly with 17 points, leading UC Irvine to a decisive 66-51 win over Loyola Marymount on Friday evening.
Henry exhibited impressive shooting, going 5 for 7 overall, with 3 of those being successful three-pointers, and he made all four of his free-throw attempts. His performance was complemented by Bent Leuchten, who scored 11 points with a shooting line of 3 of 7 from the field and 5 of 7 from the free-throw line, while also grabbing 11 rebounds. Devin Tillis added to the Anteaters’ total, finishing with eight points on 3 of 5 shooting, alongside six rebounds to contribute defensively.
For the Lions, Jevon Porter emerged as the top scorer, racking up 19 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Teammate Jan Vide contributed 13 points along with two steals, and Will Johnston also pitched in with 12 points to support the effort.
UC Irvine established control of the game early, taking the lead just 14 seconds into the game and never looking back. At halftime, the Anteaters were ahead 36-23, with Henry playing a key role by scoring 10 points in the first half. In the second half, they maintained their momentum, pushing the score to 66-48 during a strong 10-3 run. Justin Hohn led his team in scoring during this period, finishing with eight points and helping to seal the victory for UC Irvine.
