TOWSON, Md. — In a commanding display of teamwork and skill, Towson University triumphed over Penn State-Wilkes Barre with a substantial 89-34 victory on Friday evening.
Tomiwa Sulaiman led the charge for the Tigers, contributing 20 points with an impressive shooting performance, hitting 7 of 9 attempts from the field, and showcasing his accuracy from long-range with 6 out of 7 successful three-point shots.
In addition to Sulaiman’s stellar performance, Tyler Tejada added 15 points, achieving 4 of 7 from the floor, which included 1 for 3 from beyond the arc, along with a perfect record at the free-throw line, converting all six attempts.
Rahdir Hicks also made a significant impact, shooting 4 for 6 overall and connecting on 2 out of 4 three-point attempts to finish with 10 points.
On the opposing side, Jedidiah Ashton was the standout for Penn State-Wilkes Barre, ending the game with 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds. His notable effort was complemented by Tahiyr Vines, who contributed six points, while Nymier Brooks added four points to the team’s total.
Towson seized control of the game early, taking the lead with 16:05 left in the first half and maintaining that advantage throughout. By halftime, the score stood at 49-22, with Tejada leading the charge for Towson with 15 points at the break.
In the second half, Towson significantly widened the gap, pushing their lead to 66-24 after an impressive run of 17-2. Sulaiman continued to shine, adding 14 points in the latter half as Towson cruised towards an easy victory.
Looking ahead, Towson is set to face off against South Carolina on Tuesday in an away game, while Penn State-Wilkes Barre will be heading to Delaware State for their next matchup on the same day.
