Seattle Kraken trade for Daniel Sprong again from Vancouver Canucks

The Seattle Kraken have made a move to bolster their offense by bringing back Daniel Sprong in a trade with their nearby rivals, the Vancouver Canucks. In exchange for the skilled forward, the Kraken sent back future considerations to Vancouver.

At 27 years old, Sprong has been a versatile player in the NHL, though his recent stint with the Canucks was underwhelming; he managed only three points while averaging less than 12 minutes on the ice across nine games. Prior to this, he played with the Kraken at the tail end of the 2021-22 season and for the entirety of the 2022-23 season. Last year, he also had a brief spell with the Detroit Red Wings.

The Kraken are in search of a boost offensively, especially after experiencing a rough start to the season with nine losses in their first 14 games. Sprong previously enjoyed his most productive season with Seattle, achieving personal records with 21 goals and 46 points, along with matching his season-high assist tally of 25.

Throughout his NHL career, Sprong has played for several teams, including Pittsburgh, Anaheim, and Washington, since making his league debut in 2015. With a total of 165 points accumulated over 366 games in both regular and playoff action, he is a well-rounded forward who adds depth to the Kraken’s lineup.
