Las Palmas achieved a convincing 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Friday, with Colombian midfielder James Rodríguez once again appearing only as a substitute.
The match began with Sandro delivering a corner that was met by Fabio Silva, who scored the opening goal with a well-placed header. Silva then added to Las Palmas’ lead in the second half, this time benefiting from another corner that led to an own goal by Rayo defender Aridane.
Substitute Manu Fuster capped off the night for Las Palmas by scoring on a quick counterattack just four minutes later.
Despite controlling much of the game, Rayo Vallecano struggled to find the net, managing to secure only a late consolation goal when Scott McKenna inadvertently scored an own goal during stoppage time.
James came into the game for the final fifteen minutes, marking his sixth appearance in the league for Rayo. Since making a surprising move to Vallecas over the summer, the veteran former Real Madrid player has started only once in La Liga.
Recent reports from Spanish media have hinted that James may be on his way out during the upcoming winter transfer window, as he appears not to align with the coaching style of Rayo’s Iñigo Pérez, which emphasizes high pressure and intensity.
