Mets outfielder Tyrone Taylor has undergone two surgical procedures, which are expected to have him prepared for spring training by mid-February.
On Friday, the New York Mets announced that Taylor had surgery to repair an umbilical hernia on October 30 in Phoenix, performed by Dr. Venkata Evani. He also had a procedure to remove a loose body from his right elbow on Thursday in New York, conducted by Dr. James Carr. The projected recovery time from these surgeries stands at roughly two months.
Turning 31 this January, Taylor had a solid first year with the Mets, posting a batting average of .248, along with seven home runs, 35 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases across 130 games. The Mets acquired him from the Milwaukee Brewers last December, swapping him along with right-hander Adrian Houser for minor league right-hander Coleman Crow.
This past season, Taylor earned a salary of $2,025,000 and is set to become eligible for arbitration.
