LONDON — Tottenham Hotspur could face disciplinary measures from the English Football Association (FA) due to homophobic chanting by their supporters during a recent Premier League match.

The incident occurred on September 29, when Tottenham secured a 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The FA has leveled charges against the club for breaches of its regulations, which mandate that teams must ensure their fans refrain from using any offensive language or engaging in behavior deemed “improper, offensive, abusive, indecent, or insulting,” particularly in relation to sexual orientation.

Tottenham has until the upcoming Wednesday to provide a response to the governing body regarding the charges.

In light of the incident, the London-based club has publicly denounced the “abhorrent homophobic chanting” and has committed to collaborating with law enforcement to implement the “strongest possible action” against those responsible.
