Ames, Iowa — In a decisive matchup, the No. 8 ranked Iowa State Cyclones overpowered Indiana State, securing a 64-42 victory on Thursday night. Leading the charge for Iowa State was Audi Crooks, who scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, marking her continuous streak of scoring in double figures for the 34th consecutive game. Sophomore Addy Brown also made a significant impact, contributing 12 points along with 10 rebounds, achieving her 11th career double-double.

Sydney Harris also played a crucial role for the Cyclones (2-0), adding 11 points to the scoreboard with an efficient 4-of-6 shooting performance. Despite failing to score, Emily Ryan had a notable presence on the court with eight rebounds, seven assists, two blocks, and two steals. For Indiana State (0-2), both Keslyn Secrist and Deja Jones led their team with 12 points each.

Looking at the performance statistics, Indiana State struggled with their shooting; they managed only 3 of 19 (15.8%) from beyond the arc and 15 of 59 (25.4%) from the floor. Meanwhile, Iowa State’s performance reflected a notable decline in scoring, with this being their lowest points tally since a 70-53 defeat against Texas in the previous season’s Big 12 championship game.

A pivotal moment in the game came during the final minutes of the first half, as Iowa State capitalized on an offensive surge, going on a 9-2 run that allowed them to enter halftime with a 35-28 lead. Notably, Harris, who previously transferred from TCU after playing at Central Michigan, shone in the first half, successfully completing all three of her field-goal attempts.

Looking ahead, Indiana State will be looking to bounce back as they prepare to face Wright State on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, Iowa State will return home to host Southern on Sunday.
