NEWARK, Del. – In an exciting matchup on Thursday night, Niels Lane shone with 19 points, leading the Delaware Blue Hens to a narrow 81-77 victory over Robert Morris.
Lane’s performance was notable as he also secured seven rebounds and made three steals, contributing significantly to his team’s success as they improved to a record of 1-1 for the season.
Trent Middleton added 13 points, showcasing his efficiency by shooting 75 percent from the field, buried three out of four attempts, and excelled at the free-throw line, hitting all six of his tries.
Erik Timko chipped in with 12 points despite having a challenging shooting night, going three for 12 overall and missing all four of his three-point shooting attempts. However, he did convert all his six free-throw attempts, underlining his capability to capitalize on opportunities.
On the other side, the Colonials, now at 0-2 this season, were led by Kam Woods, who delivered an impressive 22-point performance along with seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Ryan Prather added 14 points to the scoreboard for Robert Morris, while Josh Omojafo contributed 12 points and helped out on the boards with seven rebounds.
Delaware went into halftime with a slight advantage, leading Robert Morris 45-43. During the first half, Timko managed to score 10 points, while Lane was able to contribute 13 points in the second half, helping to seal the Blue Hens’ victory.
