Three-time Cy Young Award recipient Clayton Kershaw is gearing up to focus intensely on rehabilitation following two recent surgeries.
The accomplished pitcher announced on Instagram that he underwent procedures on both his foot and knee on Wednesday. He expressed his gratitude to the surgeons, Drs. Kenneth Jung and Neal ElAttrache, for their expertise during the surgeries.
On Thursday, Kershaw conveyed his determination to tackle rehab with an optimistic mindset, stating, “Planning to crush some rehab and be as good as can be come next year.”
At 36 years old, Kershaw boasts an impressive career record of 212 wins and 94 losses along with a 2.50 ERA across 429 starts, complemented by three relief appearances over the span of 17 seasons, all spent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He opted against a $10 million player option, choosing instead to enter free agency, though it is anticipated that he will make a return to the Dodgers.
Kershaw faced significant injuries throughout the last season, ending with a modest record of 2-2 and a 4.50 ERA from seven starts. Unfortunately, he was unavailable during the Dodgers’ journey to clinch the franchise’s eighth World Series title.
