On Wednesday, Abraham Hamadeh, a Republican, secured a victory for a U.S. House seat in Arizona, defeating Democrat Gregory Whitten.
Hamadeh received endorsements from prominent figures including former President Donald Trump and Arizona Senate hopeful Kari Lake.
His district encompasses the suburban areas located to the north and west of Phoenix.
Hamadeh will be taking over the position from Republican Rep. Debbie Lesko, a noted supporter of Trump, who opted not to seek reelection for the state’s 8th District.
The announcement of Hamadeh’s victory was made at 8:58 p.m. EST.
