Jacob Waguespack, a right-handed pitcher, has finalized a one-year contract worth $1.3 million with the Tampa Bay Rays.
This agreement also includes a club option for 2026 valued at $1.5 million, which has the potential to increase to $2 million if Waguespack achieves certain performance metrics. Specifically, these metrics are based on accumulating points—two points for each start and one point for any relief appearance that he makes.

Waguespack, now 31 years old, made his Major League Baseball debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019, where he concluded the season with a 5-5 win-loss record and a 4.38 earned run average (ERA).
After spending the 2022 and 2023 seasons competing in Japan, he has made his return to Major League Baseball in 2024 with the Rays.

Although Waguespack secured a spot on Tampa Bay’s opening day roster, he was sidelined for a significant portion of the season due to a shoulder injury. During his limited appearances, he pitched 10 innings, posting an ERA of 5.40.
