Republican Representative Pete Stauber successfully secured reelection for a U.S. House position in Minnesota on Tuesday.
Stauber first entered office for the northeastern 8th District in 2018 and has been a staunch advocate for the local iron mining sector.
Previously, he served as a St. Louis County commissioner and city council member in Hermantown, in addition to being a Duluth police officer for more than twenty years.
In this election, he faced off against former state Representative Jen Schultz, a Democrat who teaches health care economics at the University of Minnesota Duluth and was making her second attempt for the congressional seat.
The results were announced, confirming Stauber’s victory at 11:56 p.m. EST, marking a significant moment in Minnesota’s Congressional representation.
