Moolenaar has a history in Congress, having first been elected in 2015. He experienced a comfortable win during the 2022 elections after the 2nd District was reconfigured to include areas in western and central Michigan.
Currently, Moolenaar holds prominent positions as the chairman of the House Select Committee on China and is a co-chair of the Congressional School Choice Caucus.
He was officially declared the victor by media sources at 10:47 p.m. EST on election night.
