AP Election Update: Kamala Harris Secures Victory in Colorado

0

Kamala Harris achieved victory in Colorado on Tuesday, securing the state’s 10 electoral votes.
Colorado, which has shifted from being a competitive purple state to a solid blue state over the past twenty years, has trended Democratic in recent elections.
The last time a Republican candidate successfully won Colorado’s electoral votes was in 2004 when George W. Bush was on the ballot.
Since that election, the state has consistently supported Democratic candidates, with Joe Biden notably winning Colorado by a significant margin in 2020.
Following the 2020 census, Colorado saw an increase in its electoral vote total to 10, a change attributed to the population growth in and around Denver.
The announcement of Harris’s win was made by election officials at 10:08 p.m. EST.
