Democratic Representative Timothy Kennedy secured reelection to his U.S. House position in New York on Tuesday. This win marks the beginning of his first complete term representing the western New York district, which includes urban areas such as Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Lackawanna, Tonawanda, and North Tonawanda.

Kennedy initially entered Congress through a special election held in April, filling the vacancy left by Democrat Brian Higgins, who had occupied the seat since 2005. Before his congressional tenure, Kennedy had a significant political career, serving seven terms in the state Senate, where he notably held the role of chair of the transportation committee.

The announcement of Kennedy’s victory was made by election officials shortly after 10:00 p.m. EST on election night. His successful campaign allows him to continue representing the interests of his constituents in Washington, D.C.
