Republican Congressman Sam Graves successfully secured his reelection for a U.S. House seat in Missouri on Tuesday. In the GOP-favored 6th District located in northern Missouri, Graves triumphed over his Democratic challenger, Pat May. Having been a member of Congress since 2001, Graves currently leads the House Transportation Committee. Although his first general election in 2000 was tightly contested, Graves has demonstrated a consistent ability to win reelection with relative ease in subsequent races. Before his time in Congress, he held a position in the Missouri General Assembly for eight years. Additionally, Graves is accomplished in aviation as he is a certified general aviation pilot. On the other hand, May, the Democrat candidate, is a retired legal assistant. The announcement of Graves’ victory was made by the media at 9:46 p.m. EST.
