HAMILTON, N.Y. — Colgate opened its basketball season with a resounding 95-62 victory against SUNY-Canton on Tuesday night, showcasing a strong performance throughout the game.
Nicolas Louis-Jacques was a standout player, contributing 21 points to his team’s total. He achieved this by making 7 of 10 shots, including three 3-pointers out of six attempts, and converting 4 of 5 free throws. Jeff Woodward also had an impressive game with 17 points, nine rebounds, and a solid six assists. Additionally, Brady Cummins added to the scoreboard with 11 points, hitting 5 of 9 from the field and 1 of 3 from beyond the arc.
For SUNY-Canton, Eli Larson led the scoring with 16 points along with seven rebounds, while Bryon Streb contributed 15 points. Jevonte Williams also played a key role, finishing with 12 points.
Colgate established control early by taking the lead just 34 seconds into the game and maintained it throughout. Woodward was particularly effective in the first half, scoring 13 points, which helped his team secure a 48-32 advantage by halftime. In the second half, Louis-Jacques continued to excel, leading with nine points and ensuring Colgate’s dominance during the remaining minutes of the matchup.
