On Tuesday, Illinois Republican Representative Mike Bost secured his reelection to the U.S. House, marking his sixth term in office.
Bost, who previously served in the Illinois state legislature, faced a competitive primary challenge earlier this year from former state Senator Darren Bailey, who was the Republican candidate for governor in 2022.
Notably, Bost received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, which likely bolstered his campaign against Bailey.
The Republican district that Bost represents covers a significant portion of the southern part of Illinois, specifically nearly the entire lower third of the state.
The election results were officially announced by the appropriate media outlets at 9:19 p.m. EST, confirming his victory.
