BOSTON — On Tuesday, Democratic Representative Ayanna Pressley secured her reelection to the U.S. House, representing the state of Massachusetts. Pressley made history in 2018 as the first Black woman to be elected to Congress from Massachusetts. She serves the 7th Congressional District, which encompasses a significant portion of Boston along with parts of several other communities, including Cambridge.
Known for her strong opposition to former President Donald Trump, Pressley is part of a coalition of progressive lawmakers in the House referred to as the Squad. This group is recognized for its advocacy on various social justice issues and commitment to progressive policies.
Pressley’s reelection reflects her continued support within the district, and she is expected to maintain her active involvement in progressive initiatives during her new term in office.
