Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup promote fundraising for flood relief in Spain

MALAGA, Spain — As the Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup finals approach, taking place in Malaga this November, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced its commitment to assist in recovery from the recent severe flooding across Spain by making a donation to the Spanish Red Cross.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the ITF and its two significant tournaments conveyed their heartfelt condolences to those affected by the destructive floods that have impacted various communities. They expressed their aim to stand in solidarity with the victims and offered support for families and neighborhoods grappling with the aftermath of this natural disaster.

The ITF has confirmed that both the Billie Jean King Cup and the Davis Cup are contributing funds to the Cruz Roja and have called upon fans and followers to join them in this charitable initiative. However, they have not disclosed the specific amount of their donation.

The devastating effects of the heavy rainfall have led authorities to recover over 200 bodies in the Valencia region, with rescue teams—including police, firefighters, and military personnel—continuing their search for the numerous individuals who remain unaccounted for.

Scheduled to take place from November 13-20, the Billie Jean King Cup will be followed by the Davis Cup, which marks the final event of Rafael Nadal’s illustrious career as a 22-time Grand Slam champion, taking place between November 19-24, all within the beautiful venue of Malaga.
