EL PASO, Texas — In a dominant season opener on Monday night, UTEP showcased their strength with a resounding 102-55 win against Sul Ross State. Off the bench, Ahamad Bynum emerged as a standout player, racking up 20 points for the Miners.
Bynum’s shooting was impressive, as he connected on 7 of 9 attempts from the floor, including 6 of 8 from beyond the arc. His teammates also contributed significantly, with Otis Frazier III and Trey Horton each scoring 17 points.
For the Lobos, Cam Clardy led the scoring effort, finishing with 19 points.
UTEP seized control of the game early, taking the lead just 12 seconds into the first half and never looking back. Bynum’s first-half performance was pivotal, as he tallied 14 points and helped the Miners build a commanding 49-26 lead by halftime.
In the second half, UTEP continued to dominate with a powerful 19-2 scoring run, putting the game beyond reach. Horton was instrumental during this stretch, leading his team with nine points after the break.
