DALLAS — Boopie Miller led the way for SMU with a stellar performance, scoring 21 points, as the team saw six players reach double figures in a commanding 96-62 win against Tarleton State on Monday night.

This victory marked the first for head coach Andy Enfield since he took over the program, after a successful tenure of 11 years at Southern California, where he recorded a 220-147 win-loss record.

Notably, this win was significant for SMU, as it was the first instance since December 17, 2015, that the Mustangs had six players score in double digits during a game, with their previous occurrence being a matchup against Hampton.

In addition to Miller’s 21 points, he also contributed seven assists and shot 53% from the field, hitting 8 of 15 attempts. Kario Oquendo and Chuck Harris both made significant contributions as well, each scoring 16 points. The Mustangs shot an impressive 54% overall, connecting on 34 of 63 shots. B.J. Edwards chipped in 13 points, while Keon Ambrose-Hylton added 12 points to the scoreboard.

On the other side, Tarleton State’s Bubu Benjamin led his team with 21 points, making 14 of his 16 attempts from the charity stripe, while Matt Krass added 10 points to the Texans’ efforts.

SMU took control of the game just three minutes in and never looked back, establishing a double-digit lead with 13:20 to go in the first half. With a significant 27-7 run, including a highlight-reel dunk from Edwards, the Mustangs extended their lead to as much as 30 points with 4:32 left on the clock before halftime. At the break, the score stood at 51-28.

In the first half, Harris contributed 12 points while Miller added 10, helping set the tone for the team’s overall dominant performance.
