BOONE, N.C. — In the season opener on Monday night, Miami of Ohio triumphed over Appalachian State with a score of 77-63, thanks in large part to Peter Suder’s impressive performance of 17 points and six rebounds for the RedHawks (1-0).

Kam Craft also contributed significantly, scoring 16 points while hitting 6 of 11 shots, including 4 out of 7 from beyond the arc. Evan Ipsaro completed the offensive effort with 11 points, showcasing his accuracy by shooting 3 of 5 from the field and hitting all four of his free-throw attempts.

On the other side, the Mountaineers (0-1) were led by Myles Tate, who delivered a commendable performance, finishing with 21 points, five assists, and four steals. CJ Huntley and Michael Marcus Jr. both pitched in with nine points each, while Huntley also snagged six rebounds.

Miami headed into halftime with a narrow one-point lead, largely due to Suder’s nine points in the first half. The turning point came after Mekhi Cooper drained a 3-pointer with 17:06 left in the game, giving Miami a lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the match. In the second half, Miami’s offense surged, outscoring Appalachian State by 13 points.
