BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The No. 25 Indiana Hoosiers kicked off their season with a commanding 82-60 victory over Brown on Monday night, showcasing impressive performances from several players.

Sydney Parrish led the charge for Indiana, contributing a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. She was supported by Tennessee transfer Karoline Striplin, who added 17 points, while Yarden Garzon made her mark with four 3-pointers, totaling 16 points. Lilly Meister also made a notable contribution by scoring 12 points, as the Hoosiers demonstrated strong shooting skills, hitting 50% of their shots from the field (30 of 60) and a stellar 17 of 20 from the free-throw line.

On the other side, Isabella Mauricio was the standout for the Bears, scoring 15 points, and Olivia Young added 13. The Bears struggled with their shooting, converting only 11 of their 36 attempts from beyond the arc (31%) and finishing the game with a total field goal percentage of 38% (23 of 60).

Indiana set the tone early, going on a significant 16-2 run in the first quarter. By the end of the first period, they led 18-7 and extended their advantage to 39-21 by halftime.

In the third quarter, Mauricio found her rhythm, scoring 13 points, which included two 3-pointers and a crucial three-point play, helping the Bears put up 23 points. Despite the Bears’ efforts, Indiana maintained their lead, shooting 6 of 12 from the field and converting all eight of their free throw attempts, ensuring they kept pace with Brown’s offensive surge.

The Hoosiers’ impressive start and their ability to dominate in crucial moments set a positive tone for the rest of the season.
